NovoaGlobal Supports Cyclist Safety

NovoaGlobal supports World Bicycle Day on June 3rd. The day was chosen to celebrate “the uniqueness, longevity and versatility of the bicycle” by the United Nations in April 2018.

On this day, individuals take part in and promote initiatives to organize bicycle rides at the national and local levels. This is done in order to develop a culture of cycling, which will then lead to improved physical and mental well-being. Bicycles are also promoted as means of promoting health, preventing disease, promoting tolerance, mutual understanding and respect and facilitating social inclusion and a culture of peace.

Cycling, like other moderate physical activities, is extremely beneficial. It provides an affordable and sustainable means of transportation for the urban poor. It is an equitable, environmentally sustainable and healthy mode of transportation which cities should provide adequate infrastructure for.

NovoaGlobal encourages cities to use a Vision Zero approach to keeping cyclists safe. We offer automated enforcement along bike lanes to warn drivers who disobey lane restrictions by entering the lanes and endangering cyclists. Cities like Washington, DC have used our system in a pilot program with consideration of future implementation.

12.4% – the percentage of all Americans who cycle on a regular basis.

364,000 – the number of bicycles produced daily.

$6.2 billion – the estimated size of the U.S. bicycle market.

47,670 – the number of bicycles sold daily.

2.5x – the production numbers by which bicycles are higher than for cars.

9 out of 10 – the number of people in Denmark who own a bicycle.
