NovoaGlobal Speed Enforcement for Work Zone Safety

This week is Work Zone Awareness Week. Each year about 670 people are killed nationally in highway work zones and a high percentage of people hurt in work zones are drivers, their passengers or passing pedestrians, not just road crews. In 2022, speeding continued to be a top reason for work zone crashes.

NovoaGlobal offers automated work zone speed enforcement  to educate drivers to change their behavior in work zones to help keep road crew, passengers and pedestrians safe.

More Specific Numbers

Everyone plays a role in keeping work zone workers safe. In 2021, 956 people died in work zones, according to the NHTSA FARS data. Also in 2021, 108 highway worker occupational fatalities occurred in road construction sites, based on BLS data. View the 2023 FHWA Fact Sheet. Data is also available on WorkZoneSafety.org

Unfortunately, the vast majority of people killed in work zone crashes are motorists and their passengers. In 2021, 778 drivers and their passengers died in work zones (based on NHTSA FARS data), making it all the more important for drivers to slow down and stay focused while approaching and passing through a roadway work zone.
