Railroad Camera Added in Melbourne, FL
NovoaGlobal Adds Camera for Safety
NovoaGlobal installed a railroad camera on behalf of Brightline in the area of South Harbor City Boulevard and W.H. Jackson Street in Melbourne, FL to change driver behavior after multiple fatalities at the railroad crossing. The specific location is the 1200 Blk WH Jackson St railroad crossing westbound.
According to WKMG-TV, If the ringing bells, lights, and horns don’t get a driver’s attention, Brightline hopes constant camera monitoring will.
The new system will capture when drivers are going around lowered crossing arms. Brightline originally contracted with NovoaGlobal to install the cameras in South Florida after seeing drivers constantly breaking the law.
The cameras are up and running, and drivers will be notified with a warning letter if they drive through a crossing when a train is coming.
