Pensacola Captures Red light Running
Red Light Running is Dangerous to Others on the Road
According to a report by 🎥WKRG News 5, NovoaGlobal’s customer, Pensacola, stated that red-light cameras in the city are capturing images of vehicles running red lights🚦 (see the WKRG News 5 🎥video below). Dangerous driving habits hurt others on the road and red light cameras help to change those behaviors.
Four cameras on 9th Avenue and a fifth camera on Davis Highway have recorded 26,085 violations since February. “We have officers looking at these – at the video to make sure, and if they’re very close, then we’re not going to send a citation out, but we’re sending them out when it’s a blatant disregard for that light,” Pensacola Police Public Information Officer Mike Wood said.
Out of the 26,085 citations, 30% of violations came from 9th Avenue and Gregory Street, with 8,274 violations recorded. As for the four other intersections, 9th Avenue and Bayou Boulevard saw 7,777; 9th Avenue and Airport Boulevard saw 3,616; 9th Avenue and Fairfield Drive saw 4.969; and Fairfield Drive and Davis Highway saw 1,449.
Officer Wood said drivers need to start paying better attention.
